Meet The Chef

With a determined focus on the future, Chef Thierry Mounon always dreamed of creating a special place, an artistic sanctuary, where he could freely explore the wonders of French gastronomy. In a carefully crafted haven, each ingredient would be carefully selected for its exceptional quality, blending seamlessly with traditional techniques to achieve culinary perfection. In 2003, he made his debut in the Michelin-star arena when he was recruited by the renowned chef Christian Etienne to work at his eponymous restaurant in Avignon, a picturesque town in Southern France. Thierry’s journey then led him to a distinguished Michelin-starred establishment in London. After further honing his culinary skills in various locations across France and the breathtaking shores of Bora Bora, destiny beckoned him to Vietnam in 2008. There, he graced the kitchens of a luxurious five-star property for two years, embracing the vibrant flavors of the region.

In 2010, Thierry found himself in Ho Chi Minh City, where he embarked on a remarkable culinary venture alongside his wife, Mrs. Tina Trang Pham. Together, they opened La Villa, which would later earn the coveted title of a Michelin-selected restaurant in 2023. Fuelled by their passion for bringing an authentic French bistrot experience to the heart of Ho Chi Minh City, Chef Thierry embarked on a new chapter by establishing La Fontaine French Bistrot after the success of La Villa.

About La Villa

For Chef Thierry and his wife Tina, La Villa has been a labour of love. This is a restaurant that conforms to the highest standards of French cuisine, without conforming to the restrictions of tradition. Of-course traditional food and techniques are respected, but this is classic French fine dining of the ultimate standard. The setting is superb; a delightful and imposing villa, with beautiful gardens, a swimming pool to the front, nestled in the heart of District 2, away from the smog, clog and noise of life across the river.

As soon as you cross the threshold, the grandeur and magnificent decor announce themselves. The ambience lends itself perfectly to a romantic meal for two. Bring your loved one here for a romantic dinner in Ho Chi Minh City, and things will go right, right from the start. The restaurant has a homely feel to it, after all it is Thierry and Tina’s home. The crisp clean white linen is complemented by the superb quality tableware. The always impeccable service is of the kind that almost goes unnoticed, such is its seamless application.
